Vitex Gains More Control and CRM
Capabilities with Atlantic Software Alliance’s
Implementation of Sage CRM SalesLogix

The ability to manage relationships is
crucial to Vitex, a professional services firm dedicated to
assisting presidents, CEOs and senior executives in the
banking industry to achieve their strategic business
objectives. In an industry as unique as Vitex’s, the need
for a robust and easy-to-maintain Customer Relationship
Management (CRM) solution is vital. More specifically, the
company requires a CRM solution that is reliable and
flexible – one that responds to the company’s need to modify
and customize the system as business needs change. In
addition, Vitex consultants and sales associates need remote
access to the CRM system.
Several years ago, Vitex first began to
recognize the need for a new CRM solution. As business
began to grow, the company outgrew its old CRM system,
ACT!. Since the database housed over 12,000 financial
institutions – often with three or four contacts per
institution – a larger database had become requisite.
In an attempt to meet this need, the
company chose Siebel Systems. Although this software met
the database needs, the company had to outsource the
development of custom modifications, which were essential in
Vitex’s business. These enhancements were often simple
modifications such as moving fields on the screen or
creating custom views. No matter how small the change,
however, each one cost Vitex several hundred dollars. In
addition, the company was outsourcing approximately $4,000
per month in maintenance fees for the Siebel system.
Consequently, Siebel Systems did not allow integration with
Vitex’s e-mail client, which was also a vital function for
the consulting business.
After several years of costly
outsourcing, Vitex determined that bringing the
customizations in-house would end the cycle of exorbitant
monthly fees. Therefore, the company began shopping for
another CRM solution and chose Sage CRM
SalesLogix and local
Sage Software business partner, Atlantic Software Alliance.
Sage CRM SalesLogix’s contact management, sales, and opportunity
tracking capabilities instantly appealed to Vitex. In
addition, the system’s ease-of-use and modification
capacities met the company’s unique business needs.
“Customizations are things we have to do,” said Randy Roth,
CEO of Vitex. “It’s the nature of our business. There
simply isn’t an existing off-the-shelf software to help us
as consultants to banks.”

Software Alliance was the obvious choice for Vitex because
of the variety of services that the company offers its
customers. In particular, Vitex was impressed with Atlantic
Software Alliance’s ability to not only install and
implement the CRM solution, but also to provide on-going
maintenance and support for the business. After Atlantic
Software Alliance’s implementation and a seamless transition
to Sage CRM SalesLogix, the benefits of the new system and the
its new business partner were apparent.
Vitex was immediately impressed with
Sage CRM SalesLogix. “It is extremely easy to modify,” said
Roth. “And Atlantic Software Alliance’s development of the
custom integration with our e-mail system works like a
charm.”
In addition to the enhanced system and
the ability to make customizations in-house, they were also
satisfied that they were still paying less than their
previous annual maintenance fees, even after the purchase of
the software and the costs associated with its
implementation.
In the future, Vitex will give their
clients the option to access their Sage
CRM SalesLogix system through
a web-based application. “This enhancement will allow our
clients access to the information they need,” said Roth.
“And it allows us to lower our costs, while providing the
support they expect.”

Alliance have been a favorable solution for Vitex’s unique
business needs. “We didn’t want five or six different
systems – we wanted to do everything on one platform;” said
Roth. With Sage CRM SalesLogix and Atlantic Software Alliance, we
are able to have the standard functionality and the custom
functionality all in one tool.”
