Cuts Down on Manual Processes with the Implementation of Sage
MAS 90
Z-Mar
Technology, which offers ESD control products, training,
engineering and custom design to eliminate damage to
electronic products from static charges, had been using an
outdated DOS-based accounting system since the mid 1980s.
Their archaic system caused them to spend valuable time
manually inputting sales orders, purchase orders and
accounts receivable information into their database multiple
times. Furthermore, the outdated system had difficulty
managing their inventory. “In our old system, our inventory
was contaminated,” said Heather Brown, Z-Mar’s accounting
manager. “We had thousands of items no longer being
produced due to discontinued product lines, but we had no
way of changing that information in our system.”
Consequently, when Z-Mar Technology
determined it was time to shop for a more current and
reliable accounting system, they compiled a list of several
solutions that met their needs. After testing the various
products, they determined that Sage MAS 90 - with its strong
inventory control and general accounting capabilities –
fulfilled the company’s functionality and budgetary needs.
In addition to the capabilities of the software, Z-Mar
Technology was attracted to Atlantic Software Alliance’s
local training center and its expertise in custom software
development, which would meet Z-Mar Technology’s unique
business needs.

90’s distribution, sales order and purchase order modules in
conjunction with its general ledger, accounts payable and
accounts receivable core accounting modules. With the
implementation of
Sage
MAS 90, Z-Mar Technology overcame one
major obstacle – redundant data entry. “It
has made a world of difference to us,” says Brown. “Now, we
have our customers’ information right at our fingertips and
our manual processes have been reduced significantly.”
Sage
MAS 90 has provided Z-Mar Technology
with better overall control of their business, enabling them
to make changes and narrow down inventory. “It’s user
friendly and provides us with much better insight into our
inventory,” says Brown.
In addition, Atlantic Software Alliance
and Z-Mar Technology have worked together to develop custom
forms, enabling them to include descriptive information on
their invoices. For example, customers like to have their
specific parts numbers as well as Z-Mar Technology’s
part numbers on their invoices, which used to be a manual
process for the company. Now, with the customized forms,
they can add this information with a click of the mouse.
